Pre-Pharmacy Transfer Program

Students wishing to attend Pharmacy School should start by completing a Pre-Pharmacy transfer program. Here at UL Lafayette, we offer all of the courses necessary to transfer into any Pharmacy School. Most of our classes are offered in both the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters, making it even easier to plan out your courses and make decisions for your application dates to Pharmacy School.

There are two Pharmacy Schools in the state of Louisiana: at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and at Xavier University of Louisiana. Other programs are available all over the country, however. If neither of these in-state programs works for you, please speak with your advisor about the requirements for your desired out-of-state Pharmacy School.

Requirements

The requirements for Pre-Pharmacy will vary with each Pharmacy School. Please select the in-state school of your choice to get the most up-to-date requirements.

PCAT and PHARMCAS

Both of the in-state Pharmacy Schools require the use of the PHARMCAS system for the application process. This is a very organized website which will allow students to store their transcripts, PCAT scores, letters of recommendation and important information in a single place that can be used to apply to any Pharmacy program.

The Pharmacy College Admission Test (or PCAT) is also a required part of the application process for most Pharmacy schools. This is a specialized exam that is used by Pharmacy programs to identify the most qualified students to be considered for admission. Practice tests and study guides are available on the PCAT website. Remember to schedule the exam early, as the available dates tend to fill up quickly.
